What is Forest Therapy?

The New Forest Heritage Centre in Lyndhurst will be hosting an event on Thursday 21st May, 7.30pm at Lyndhurst Community Centre on Forest Therapy (or Forest Bathing).

The evening will take the form of a presentation by Ben Page, Director of Training for the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides and Programs in the USA, and will explore Forest Therapy as a multifaceted health and wellness approach that benefits humans and the more-than-human-world. In order to understand the full potential of Forest Therapy, Ben will unpack its evolution from the fields of health science, neuroscience, eco-psychology, depth ecology, and ancient wisdom practices.

Mrs Mary Montagu-Scott, Chair of Trustees, says “We are delighted that Ben Page will be sharing how nature therapy is a such a powerful tool to help us in our busy daily lives. I am excited to understand how we can all can use our surrounding natural environment to feel happier, healthier and more balanced.”

Giles Gould, New Forest Heritage Centre Manager, is ‘looking forward to being introduced to this increasingly popular practice and learning about the science behind Forest Therapy’.
