The New Forest Heritage Centre in Lyndhurst has published a new book: a souvenir guide to the New Forest. This 36 page book, selling at £5, describes the beautiful landscape and traditions of the Forest, as well as discussing the extraordinary flora and fauna, ecosystems, environment, people and society.
The book, authored by Dr Katharine Walker attempts to set the scene for a visit to the Forest, as well as covering a range of behavioural messages and details of places to visit and where to look for further information.
Giles Gould, Centre Manager says “The New Forest Heritage Centre is delighted to provide a simple yet informative guide to the New Forest for both locals and visitors to the area. We hope to get across the message that the New Forest is a truly special place, and that it can be enjoyed in a way that preserves this amazing area for the future.”
Kath Walker was “delighted to be able to bring together some of the key information about the New Forest, and highlight lesser known topics, for instance the stunning coast, and the industrial history”.
The book is published in association with Pitkin Publishing, and is available to buy from the New Forest Heritage Centre. It is hoped that other local outlets will stock it, and anyone interested should contact Giles at the Centre, giles.gould@newforestheritage.org.uk
